School Day & Attendance

The school day is 8:50am to 3:20pm.

Each week is a total of 32 hours 30 minutes which is in line with government guidelines.

Morning Arrival

Each morning the children can enter their classrooms from 8:35am.

This allows time to come into class and get settled before the start of the school day. For infants a staff member or Year 6 monitor will be at the classroom door to greet the children.

Arriving Late

Regularly arriving late is unsettling for your child and disruptive for the class. However, should you, on occasion, have an emergency which means you arrive late to school, children must be accompanied by an adult to the school office where they must be signed in and a reason for lateness given.

End of the School Day

At 3:30pm infant children are brought to the playground by their class teacher and handed to a known adult. Parents of KS2 children can choose whether to meet their child or allow them to walk independently. All children travelling on the school bus or attending The Lodge are escorted by a staff member.Any children who have not been collected are taken to the office. If we are unable to determine collection arrangements they will be placed in The Lodge (after school club). Please note this will incur a cost.

Mid-Morning Snack

The government provides all infants with free fruit (fresh or dried) or a raw vegetable snack unless parents have indicated otherwise on the admission forms.

KS2 children are welcome to bring a snack that meets the same criteria.

Drinking Water

All children are encouraged to bring a named water bottle each day. In addition, there are water fountains positioned around the school.

Up to their 5th birthday Reception children will receive a free carton of milk each day.

The ‘Cool Milk’ scheme enables parents of all other children the option to purchase milk.

The form is in our induction pack or contact the office.

Attendance

We are proud that our children enjoy coming to school and that our attendance is high. Without being in school regularly it is difficult for children to maintain friendships and achieve well academically. Research has shown that a child in Year 6 with 95-100% attendance is 30% more likely to reach the expected standard in English and maths compared to those with 90-95% attendance. Our Family Support Team is able to support any family who are experiencing issues regarding attendance.

Leave of Absence

Any planned absence requests must be made in advance and forms collected from the office.

If a request has not been made or we have received conflicting information regarding any reasons for absence, we may make a home visit.

It is vital that any absence is reported to the office. If we have not been notified for the reason of an absence for example illness, staff will have to call or visit as part of our safeguarding duty.
