The Role of the Governing Body

As a Foundation School, the Governing Body is the employer of its staff, the admission body and carries the responsibility for the land and buildings of the school. It has four main duties:

  • To work strategically with Sarah our Headteacher and her team, to set the school’s vision, ethos and direction

  • To hold Sarah and senior leaders to account for the educational performance of the school through the analysis of data, understanding the curriculum and how the quality of teaching impacts learning

  • To oversee the financial performance and make sure money is well spent

  • To help shape the working and learning environment for children and adults

Visit the Essex County Council Governor website for further information.

Contacting Governors

You can contact our Governing Body by:

  • Emailing admin@ and in the subject box indicate it is for the attention of the Governing Body

  • Sending a letter for the attention for the Chair of Governors (either by post or delivered by hand)

Governor Meetings

The full governing body meets every half term and smaller groups are formed as required to support with specific projects such as a building development.

The pay committee meets every Autumn term.

Financial Benchmarking

The DfE Financial Benchmarking Tool enables school leaders to identify potential areas to help them make informed spending decisions. It is not a measure of performance and takes no account of different schools’ spending priorities.
